Best eSIM for the Dominican Republic (2026)

Competitor prices checked on each provider's own site, October 4, 2026. Last verified October 4, 2026.

RoamClean sells Dominican Republic eSIMs, and our plan is in this comparison. No provider paid to be here, and none of the links earn us anything. We rank by the criteria below, and where another provider is the better buy, we say so.

How we compared

Price per GB at 5 GB and 10 GB, using each provider's plan closest to 30 days, read on its own website. Next to price we list what each seller's own pages say about the network, the refund rule, when the days start, the currency prices are shown in and phone numbers, plus its unlimited plans with any daily limit it states. Every competitor entry shows the date we read it; prices change, so check before you buy. We did not speed-test any eSIM, so this guide makes no speed claims, and we gave no star ratings.

Do you need an eSIM for the Dominican Republic?

Not if your US plan includes it, and maybe not if you'll stay on resort Wi-Fi.

AT&T's Premium 2.0 and Elite 2.0 plans include unlimited high-speed data there. T-Mobile includes 5 GB of high-speed data on Experience More 2.0 and 15 GB on Experience Beyond 2.0, then up to 256 kbps. Verizon TravelPass costs $12 a day. Checked on the carriers' pages on Oct 4, 2026.

A week of TravelPass is $84, more than any plan in our tables. If you'll spend the trip where Wi-Fi covers what you need, you may not need data at all; an eSIM helps on day trips, in taxis and for maps.

Which Dominican Republic eSIM is cheapest per GB?

Four sellers beat us at 5 GB, and four at 10 GB. RoamClean comes 5th of 8 at 5 GB and 5th of 9 at 10 GB.

At 5 GB: AirPlans, Manet, RedSim and eSIM4Travel all cost less than our $19.49. AirPlans is $8.45 (Oct 4), RedSim $10.92 (Oct 4) and eSIM4Travel $13.52 (Oct 4).

At 10 GB: RedSim, AirPlans, Manet and Ubigi cost less than our $24.99. Ubigi's 10 GB is $21.00 (Oct 4).

Among the best-known names we're cheapest: Nomad charges $27.00 (Oct 4) for 10 GB, Airalo $37.00 (Oct 4) and Saily $37.99 (Oct 4).

Altice or Claro: which network do they use?

The sellers split between the two, and each names only one.

RoamClean connects to Altice's 4G network, not its 5G. Airalo, Holafly, Ubigi, RedSim and AirPlans also name Altice; Nomad and eSIM4Travel name Claro. Saily and Manet don't name a network on the pages we read.

Altice's own coverage map lists its 4G coverage at 97.6% and says the figures reflect use outdoors. We haven't found a comparable figure for Claro, and we haven't tested either network.

What if you want unlimited data?

It costs $48.72 to $62.50 for 15 days, and some slow down after a daily amount.

For 15 days: AirPlans $48.72 (Oct 4), Ubigi $53.00 (Oct 4), RedSim $59.50 (Oct 4), Airalo $60.00 (Oct 4) and Holafly $62.50 (Oct 4). AirPlans' page says 1 GB a day, then 512 Kbps; RedSim's says 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day.

What about a local SIM?

You'll need your passport.

Under Indotel Resolution 064-2025, Dominican carriers must identify every prepaid user with an official ID such as a passport. A travel eSIM isn't a Dominican line: you buy it online, before you fly, without an ID check. We didn't compare local SIM prices in this guide.

Questions about Dominican Republic eSIMs

Which mobile network is best in the Dominican Republic?

We can't say without testing, and we haven't tested. Altice and Claro are the two networks these eSIMs use. Altice publishes a 97.6% outdoor 4G coverage figure on its own map; pick a seller on the network your friends or hotel recommend for your area.

Can I use my eSIM in Punta Cana and Santo Domingo?

Every plan in our tables is sold for the whole country, not one city. Coverage depends on the network, so check Altice's or Claro's coverage map for the places you'll visit before you choose.

When do the days start on a Dominican Republic eSIM?

Ours start when the eSIM first connects in the Dominican Republic. RedSim's page says first connection, eSIM4Travel's when the eSIM connects, and Nomad's on connection or on its own 60 days after purchase. Airalo's help page says most of its eSIMs start on connection at the destination, and some when installed.

Quick Compatibility Check

Two checks before you buy:

1Your phone supports eSIM

Apple iPhone: iPhone XS, XR and later, including SE (3rd gen). SE (2nd gen): Apple's pages disagree, so check for an EID. Most iPhones from China mainland don't support eSIM.
Samsung Galaxy: S20 series and newer, Z Fold and Z Flip models, and some A models depending on region. Google Pixel: Pixel 4 and newer, and some Pixel 3 and 3a models.
Any phone: if Settings shows an “EID” (iPhone: General > About; Pixel: About phone > SIM status), your phone supports eSIM.

2Your phone is unlocked

iPhone, 10 seconds: Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock should say “No SIM restrictions”. A locked iPhone stops at “eSIM Not Supported”.
Android: Samsung shows it under Connections > More connection settings. Pixel or another phone from a carrier: check with your carrier.
