Best eSIM for Europe (2026)

Competitor prices checked on each provider's own site, October 4, 2026. Last verified October 4, 2026.

RoamClean sells Europe eSIMs, and our plan is in this comparison. No provider paid to be here, and none of the links earn us anything. We rank by the criteria below, and where another provider is the better buy, we say so.

The short answer

Lowest price per GB
eSIM4Travel and Stixrs are the cheapest we found, by a wide margin: 5 GB costs $4.86 (Oct 4) and $5.00 (Oct 4). We haven't used either; check their country lists against your route.
Cheapest of Airalo, Saily and Nomad
RoamClean: 5 GB for $15.49 and 10 GB for $20.49, in 34 countries including the UK and Switzerland. Nomad is next at $17.50 (Oct 4) for 5 GB.
Unlimited data
RedSim and Ubigi cost least for 15 days: $34.92 on sale (Oct 4) and $35.00 (Oct 4). RedSim's page says it slows after 3 GB a day.
A phone number
None of the Europe pages we checked sells a European number. Saily sells a US number as an add-on.
Check first
T-Mobile Experience Beyond, AT&T Elite 2.0 and Google Fi Unlimited Premium already include data in Europe (checked Oct 4).

How we compared

Price per GB at 5 GB and 10 GB, using each provider's plan closest to 30 days, read on its own website. Next to price we list what each seller's own pages say about the countries covered, the network, the refund rule, when the days start, the currency prices are shown in and phone numbers, plus its unlimited plans with any daily limit it states. Every competitor entry shows the date we read it; prices change, so check before you buy. We did not speed-test any eSIM, so this guide makes no speed claims, and we gave no star ratings.

Do you need a Europe eSIM at all?

Not if your US plan already includes Europe with enough data.

T-Mobile Experience Beyond includes 15 GB of high-speed data abroad and Experience More 5 GB, then up to 256 kbps. AT&T Elite 2.0 includes 20 GB a month, then up to 512 kbps. Google Fi Unlimited Premium includes 50 GB, then 256 kbps. All checked on the carriers' own pages on Oct 4, 2026.

On other plans you pay by the day: about $12 a day for Verizon TravelPass or AT&T International Day Pass. Ten days comes to about $120, more than any 10 GB plan in our tables.

T-Mobile · AT&T · Verizon · Google Fi

Which Europe eSIM is cheapest per GB?

eSIM4Travel and Stixrs are cheapest at both 5 GB and 10 GB.

Low-cost sellers charge a fraction of what the best-known names do: eSIM4Travel's 10 GB costs $8.81 (Oct 4), against $31.00 (Oct 4) at Airalo and $35.99 (Oct 4) at Saily. AirPlans and RedSim sit in between, at $8.38 (Oct 4) and $10.94 (Oct 4) for 5 GB.

RoamClean comes 5th of 8 at 5 GB and 6th of 9 at 10 GB among all the sellers in our two tables. We're the cheapest of Airalo, Saily and Nomad at both sizes, and not the cheapest overall.

We haven't tested the low-cost sellers' service, and we report only what their own pages say. Their country lists differ, so compare them with your route.

What's a good Europe eSIM for one or two weeks?

For maps, messages and photos on a one- or two-week trip, we suggest 5 GB with about 30 days of validity.

Among the names US travelers see most, 5 GB costs $15.49 at RoamClean, $17.50 (Oct 4) at Nomad, $19.49 (Oct 4) at Saily and $19.50 (Oct 4) at Airalo.

Country lists are where they differ most. Airalo's page lists 41 countries, Saily's 35, Nomad's 35 and ours 34. If your route includes a country only one list has, that matters more than a few dollars.

Going to Turkey? Install and switch on your eSIM before you fly, and buy enough data before you go. Since July 2025 Turkey has restricted access, from inside the country, to the websites of many international eSIM sellers, so buying or topping up while you are there may not work.

How much data should you buy for Europe?

Our rough guide, not a measurement: 3 GB for about a week of maps, trains and messages, 5 GB for one to two weeks, and 10 GB for three weeks or a laptop on hotspot.

Video calls and streaming use the most; maps and messages use little. If you're unsure, the 10 GB plans in our tables cost $20.49 or less at five sellers, so buying a little more than you need rarely costs much.

If you'd rather not count gigabytes, our day pass gives 1 GB a day for 7 days for $11.99, then slows to 1 Mbps; its country list differs slightly from the 1–10 GB plans, and our Europe page shows both.

Europe plans and countries

What if you need more than 10 GB?

Look at unlimited plans or another seller's bigger plans. RoamClean's largest Europe plan is 10 GB.

At 10 GB, five sellers cost less than our $20.49: eSIM4Travel $8.81 (Oct 4), Stixrs $9.50 (Oct 4), AirPlans $11.86 (Oct 4), RedSim $14.25 (Oct 4) and Ubigi $15.00 (Oct 4).

Unlimited plans for 15 days: RedSim $34.92 on sale (Oct 4), Ubigi $35.00 (Oct 4), Airalo $49.00 (Oct 4), Saily $49.99 (Oct 4) and Holafly $50.50 (Oct 4). Nomad sells 10 days for $34.00 (Oct 4). Read the daily limits in the unlimited table: Saily's page says full speed for 5 GB a day, then up to 1 Mbps.

Does a Europe eSIM cover the UK and Switzerland?

The pages of Airalo, Holafly, Saily, Nomad, eSIM4Travel and RoamClean all list both.

It's worth checking, because the EU's free-roaming rule doesn't reach either. It protects people whose phone plan is from an EU country, and covers the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Moldova and Ukraine, but not the UK or Switzerland.

RedSim's page says its plan includes the UK but not Switzerland. AirPlans' 10 GB plan lists both, while its 5 GB plan lists Switzerland and not the UK. Stixrs's page shows no country list, and on Ubigi's plan page we confirmed the UK but not Switzerland, so ask them before you buy.

Can you get a European phone number?

Not from any of the Europe pages we checked. They all sell data.

WhatsApp, iMessage and FaceTime work over data. Saily sells a US phone number as an add-on. To keep getting texts and bank codes, leave your US line on and turn data roaming off on it, so only the eSIM uses data.

Questions about Europe eSIMs

Is an eSIM worth it for Europe if my plan charges by the day?

Usually. At about $12 a day (Verizon TravelPass, AT&T International Day Pass, checked Oct 4, 2026), a 10-day trip costs about $120. Every 5 GB plan in our tables costs under $20. If your plan already includes Europe, you may not need one at all.

Will one eSIM cover a trip through several countries?

Yes, if every country on your route is on its list. The lists differ; the pages we checked state these country counts: 28 (RedSim), 33 (Holafly), 35 (Saily, Nomad and Stixrs), 41 (Airalo and eSIM4Travel); AirPlans' 5 GB plan 34 and its 10 GB plan 33. Ours covers 34. The full list is on our Europe page. Europe plan countries

Do I need an unlimited plan for Europe?

Only if you stream video or work on a laptop every day. For maps, messages and photos, a 5 or 10 GB plan costs much less. Several unlimited plans also slow down after a daily amount; their pages state it, and we list it in the unlimited table.

Why are some Europe eSIMs so much cheaper than others?

We can't see their costs, so we can only report prices. The cheapest sellers in our tables are small stores; the best-known names charge several times as much per GB. Price isn't the only difference: compare the country list, the validity and the refund terms on each page.

Quick Compatibility Check

Two checks before you buy:

1Your phone supports eSIM

Apple iPhone: iPhone XS, XR and later, including SE (3rd gen). SE (2nd gen): Apple's pages disagree, so check for an EID. Most iPhones from China mainland don't support eSIM.
Samsung Galaxy: S20 series and newer, Z Fold and Z Flip models, and some A models depending on region. Google Pixel: Pixel 4 and newer, and some Pixel 3 and 3a models.
Any phone: if Settings shows an “EID” (iPhone: General > About; Pixel: About phone > SIM status), your phone supports eSIM.

2Your phone is unlocked

iPhone, 10 seconds: Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock should say “No SIM restrictions”. A locked iPhone stops at “eSIM Not Supported”.
Android: Samsung shows it under Connections > More connection settings. Pixel or another phone from a carrier: check with your carrier.
