Install your eSIM on Android

Steps for Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy. Do it at home on Wi-Fi before you fly; installing doesn't start your plan. When do my days start?

Before you start

A phone with eSIM

Pixel 4 or later, and most Galaxy S, Z Fold and Z Flip models from the S20 on. Check your model.

Unlocked

Google: a phone must be SIM-unlocked to work with any carrier. Phones bought from a carrier can be locked. How to check.

On Wi-Fi

The eSIM downloads over the internet, so connect to Wi-Fi first.

One tap: your order email has an Install on Android button (on your order page it's called Install on this phone). Open the email on the phone you're traveling with and tap it to open your phone's eSIM setup, where Android supports it. If nothing happens, use the QR code or enter the code by hand.

Unlike iPhone, Android has no tap-and-hold option for a QR code on the same screen: Google's and Samsung's guides only describe scanning it or entering the code. Use the button, or show the QR code on another screen.

Google Pixel

Show the QR code on another screen, such as a laptop.

  1. 1

    Open Settings

Tap Network & internet > SIMs.
  2. 2

    Tap Add SIM

Then tap Set up an eSIM.
  3. 3

    Scan the QR code

Follow the steps on screen and scan the QR code from your order, or enter the code from “Enter manually” on your order page.
  4. 4

    Set your SIM preferences

When asked, keep your home SIM for Calls and Texts. You'll set mobile data to RoamClean when you land.

Samsung Galaxy

Menu names can vary slightly by model and region.

  1. 1

    Open Settings

    Tap Connections > SIM manager.
  2. 2

    Tap Add eSIM

Then tap Scan QR code and scan the code from your order.
  3. 3

    No camera handy?

On the scan screen, tap Enter activation code and paste the code from your order page.
  4. 4

    Restart the phone

Samsung says to restart to apply the eSIM profile.

To make the line easy to find, tap it in SIM manager, tap Name and enter RoamClean.

After it's added

Don't delete it

Each code installs once. If something looks wrong, email us before you remove the eSIM.

Keep your home number working

Your home SIM stays on for texts and bank codes. How to set that up.

Quick Compatibility Check

Two checks before you buy:

1Your phone supports eSIM

Apple iPhone: iPhone XS, XR and later, including SE (3rd gen). SE (2nd gen): Apple's pages disagree, so check for an EID. Most iPhones from China mainland don't support eSIM.
Samsung Galaxy: S20 series and newer, Z Fold and Z Flip models, and some A models depending on region. Google Pixel: Pixel 4 and newer, and some Pixel 3 and 3a models.
Any phone: if Settings shows an “EID” (iPhone: General > About; Pixel: About phone > SIM status), your phone supports eSIM.

2Your phone is unlocked

iPhone, 10 seconds: Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock should say “No SIM restrictions”. A locked iPhone stops at “eSIM Not Supported”.
Android: Samsung shows it under Connections > More connection settings. Pixel or another phone from a carrier: check with your carrier.
