No internet?
Work down this list in order, starting with step 1. Each step takes a minute or less.
Couldn't install the eSIM at all, or saw “eSIM Not Supported”? Your phone is probably carrier-locked.
1. Set Cellular Data to RoamClean
Start here. Only one line carries data at a time. If your phone still has data on your home line, it keeps trying that line, which often has no data abroad, and never uses RoamClean.
- a
Make RoamClean the data line
iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data > RoamClean. Pixel: Network & internet > SIMs > Mobile data > RoamClean. Samsung: SIM manager > Primary SIM > Mobile data. Don't see RoamClean? Turn the line on first (iPhone: tap it > Turn On This Line; Pixel: Use SIM). - b
Turn on Data Roaming for RoamClean
Your eSIM connects as a roaming line, so our network partner requires it. iPhone: Settings > Cellular > tap RoamClean > Cellular Data Options > Data Roaming on. Pixel: SIMs > RoamClean > Roaming on. Samsung: Connections > Mobile networks > Data roaming on. - c
Turn off data switching
iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data > turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching. Pixel: SIMs > turn off Automatic data switching. This stops the phone moving data back to your home line.
2. Restart the connection
- a
Airplane mode on, then off
Leave it on for at least 15 seconds, then turn it off and let the phone pick a network. - b
Restart the phone
Pixel tip from Google: power off, wait 30 seconds, then turn the phone back on. - c
Date and time automatic
iPhone: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically on. - d
Turn off any VPN
A VPN can block the first connection. Try again without it.
Just landed? The very first connection can take several minutes, occasionally up to an hour.
3. The APN
The APN tells your phone how to reach the internet. RoamClean eSIMs set it automatically on almost every phone, so only change it if we send you a value.
iPhone
Android
Email hello@roamclean.net with your order number and we'll send the APN for your eSIM.
4. Choose a network by hand
Signal but no data, or a weak network? Pick a different partner network yourself. In Mexico, your plan runs on Telcel and AT&T, so if one is weak where you are, try the other.
- a
iPhone
Settings > Cellular (Mobile Service in some regions) > tap RoamClean if you have two lines > Network Selection. Turn Automatic off and tap a network when the list loads. - b
Pixel
Network & internet > SIMs > RoamClean > Network, then pick a network from the list. - c
Samsung
Connections > Mobile networks > Network operators. Turn Select automatically off and pick a network. - d
Moving on? Back to automatic
A phone set by hand won't switch networks by itself and loses service where that network doesn't reach. Turn automatic selection back on before a long drive.
5. Last resort: turn off your other line
If step 1 didn't do it, switch your home line off so the phone can only use RoamClean. iPhone: Settings > Cellular > tap your home line > turn off Turn On This Line. Pixel: SIMs > your home SIM > turn off Use SIM. Samsung: SIM manager, switch your home SIM off. Texts to your home number won't arrive while it's off, so turn it back on once you're connected.
“eSIM Not Supported”? Your iPhone is locked to a carrier
If installing stops at this message, your iPhone is carrier-locked: it only accepts its own carrier's SIMs. Nothing is wrong with the eSIM.
Check in 10 seconds
Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock should say “No SIM restrictions”. “SIM locked” or anything else means locked. More on the check
Get it unlocked by your carrier
Only your carrier can unlock it, and it can take a few days, so ask well before you fly. Each carrier's official rules for phones on its postpaid plans:
AT&T
Verizon
T-Mobile
Your eSIM isn't used up. If your order page still says “Ready to install”, install it once your phone is unlocked, before the install-by date, or refund it there within 30 days of purchase. Find my order
Still nothing? Don't delete the eSIM
Each code installs once, so deleting the eSIM rarely helps and can leave you without one. Reply to your order email or write to hello@roamclean.net with where you are and what your screen shows at the top. A person answers. If we can't get you connected, you get your money back. How refunds work.
