Seville eSIM guide: the airport, the Feria and getting around

What works for data in Seville: no shop at Sevilla Airport sells SIM cards, the networks our Spain plans use, how the Feria de Abril strains them, the airport bus and taxi fares, the metro and the train to Córdoba.

Last checked October 14, 2026 · Sources and dates

RoamClean sells Spain eSIMs, and our plans are on this page. The facts about Seville come from the airport, carrier and transit pages listed under Sources, each with the date we read it. Where you may not need an eSIM at all, we say so.

The short answer

  • Sort out data before you fly. Aena's directory for Sevilla Airport lists 21 shops and restaurants, and none of them sells SIM cards. (source)
  • Our Spain eSIM connects to Orange and Movistar. Orange's network launched Spain's first 5G Advanced network in Seville in 2025. (source)
  • Going to the Feria de Abril? Operators bring in extra equipment every year, but when the fairground gets crowded, data slows down before calls do. (sources 1, 2)
  • There is no train or metro to the airport. You arrive by the EA bus, a taxi at a fixed fare, or a ride app, and all three are easier with data. (source)

Our Spain plans for Seville

Our Spain plans connect to Orange or Movistar, with 5G where the network and your phone support it. Their internet address is outside Spain, so a few Spanish sites may see you as being in France, the Netherlands or the UK.

In May 2025 MasOrange, the company behind Orange's network, launched Spain's first 5G Advanced network in Seville, combining the 26 GHz and 3.5 GHz bands on its 5G standalone network. Whether a visiting phone uses those newest features depends on the phone and on the network. (source)

Movistar listed Sevilla among the first 11 Spanish cities on its 5G standalone network in July 2023. (source)

Why 3 GB: Seville is compact and walkable, and a week of maps, bus times, ride apps and photos fits in 3 GB for most visitors. Take 5 GB if you add Córdoba or Granada, or if you will post a lot of video from the Feria. Every plan is data only, allows hotspot, and its days start the first time it connects in Spain, not when you install it. Never installed? Full refund within 30 days. See the Spain plans

Arriving at Sevilla Airport (SVQ)

Sevilla Airport sits ten kilometres northwest of the city and handled 9,686,487 passengers in 2025. It is a one-terminal airport with a short walk from the gate to the exit. (source)

Aena's shop directory lists 21 shops and restaurants at the airport, and none sells SIM cards or phone plans. The only phone shop, La Casa de las Carcasas, sells cases, power banks, chargers, adaptors and screen protectors, and it is on Floor 1 in the Departures area. (sources 1, 2)

The free Wi-Fi network is Airport Free Wifi Aena. You sign in with an email address, get 15 minutes to confirm it, and then there is no time limit. (source)

So the choice is simple: an eSIM installed at home, your US plan's roaming, or airport Wi-Fi until you reach your hotel. The first two work from the moment you switch off airplane mode.

From the airport to the city

Aena lists only car, bus and taxi as ways to reach Sevilla Airport. There is no train or metro. (source)

The EA Airport Special bus runs to the city from 4:30 to 00:05 and to the airport from 5:22 to 1:00. A single ticket costs €6 and you can pay by bank card on board. (source)

Seville taxis charge a fixed airport fare: €26 on weekdays from 7:00 to 21:00, and €29 at night, at weekends and on holidays. The higher fare also applies during Holy Week from 7:00 to 21:00 and during the Feria de Abril from 7:00 to 20:00. (source)

Cabify won Aena's tender to be the ride-hailing partner at Sevilla Airport, with pick-up points on Floor 1 of the car park, under a minute's walk from the terminal, according to a press report from August 2026. (source)

Uber says it runs in Seville around the clock and has a page for Seville Airport pick-ups. Bolt also operates in the city, with standard cars, larger vans and e-bikes. (sources 1, 2)

The Feria de Abril and big crowds

Orange spent €2.3 million reinforcing its network for the 2026 Feria de Abril, held April 21 to 26, and says the fair has traditionally generated as much data as a city the size of Bilbao, according to Forbes España. (source)

For 2026 Orange added 27 temporary nodes, in 25 casetas, on one concrete pole and on one cell-on-wheels truck, and planned for about 40% more 5G traffic than in a normal week. (source)

Orange also sold its own customers a paid add-on called Fast Track 5G, which gives priority speed in crowded places like the Feria. It is a product for Orange subscribers, so a visiting eSIM does not get it. (source)

Vodafone, for the 2025 Feria, expanded its 5G in the 3.7 GHz band by 40% over the year before and put 26 mobile 4G stations around the Real de la Feria. (source)

Operators that reinforce networks for big events say that when congestion does happen, mobile data is hit first and calls hold up better. At the Feria, send photos once you leave the busiest streets, and agree a meeting point with your group in advance. (source)

The metro and day trips

Metro de Sevilla Line 1 runs 18 kilometres through 22 stations, with 11,100 metres of tunnel. (source)

The line had no mobile coverage when it opened. In 2014 the operators agreed to pay about €3 million to cover all 18 kilometres. We found no 2026 source on 5G in the Seville metro, so expect 4G underground. (sources 1, 2)

For Córdoba, high-speed trains leave from Sevilla Santa Justa, and OUIGO lists both cities among its destinations. Renfe says its free PlayRenfe Wi-Fi is on all AVE and Avlo trains and most long-distance trains, and you sign in with your ticket number. (sources 1, 2)

Buying a Spanish SIM in Seville instead

Spanish law requires operators selling prepaid SIM cards to record the buyer's name, nationality and the number and type of their ID, so bring your passport to the shop. (source)

Movistar sells its prepaid plans in any Movistar store. On October 14, 2026 its page listed Prepago Plus at €10 for 28 days with 60 GB, Prepago Premium at €15 with 240 GB, and Prepago Total at €20 with 300 GB, each with calls in Spain and the EU. (source)

That is a lot of data for the price, and it comes with a Spanish number. The catch in Seville is timing: there is nowhere to buy one at the airport, so you need data or Wi-Fi to find a store first. (source)

How much data for Seville?

Seville is a walking city, and most of your data goes on maps, bus and ride apps, translation and photos. These sizes assume a city stay with one or two day trips.

Our rough guide to data use in Seville
Your tripPlan that fits
A weekend in Seville1 GB, 7 days
A week in the city3 GB, 30 days
A week plus Córdoba or Granada, or Feria videos5 GB, 30 days
A laptop on hotspot, or a month10 GB, 30 days

A rough guide from the plan sizes, not a measurement. Video calls and streaming use the most data; maps and messages use little. You can add data from your order page if you run low.

Does your US phone plan already cover Seville?

Spain is not included in most US plans the way Mexico and Canada are. On the plans that don't include it, a week in Seville means a daily pass for every day you use your phone.

Setting up before you fly to Seville

  1. 1At home, check that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked.
  2. 2Install the eSIM on home Wi-Fi before you fly. Its days start when it first connects in Spain, so a layover elsewhere does not use them up.
  3. 3When you land at SVQ, turn on the eSIM line and its data roaming, and turn data roaming off on your US line.
  4. 4If it has not connected yet, join Airport Free Wifi Aena, confirm the email within 15 minutes, and open our landing checklist. (source)

Questions about data in Seville

Can I buy a SIM card at Seville airport?

Not according to Aena's directory. It lists 21 shops and restaurants at Sevilla Airport and none sells SIM cards; the only phone shop sells accessories. Buy an eSIM before you fly, or use the airport Wi-Fi and visit a phone shop in the city. (sources 1, 2)

Does my phone work in the Seville metro?

Yes. The operators agreed in 2014 to cover the full 18 kilometres of Line 1, which had no coverage before. We found no source on 5G in the metro, so expect 4G underground. (source)

Will my phone work at the Feria de Abril?

Usually, with slowdowns at the busiest times. Operators add temporary equipment every year, and Orange planned for about 40% more 5G traffic in 2026. When the network is crowded, data slows before calls fail. (sources 1, 2)

How much is a taxi from Seville airport?

A fixed €26 on weekdays from 7:00 to 21:00, and €29 at night, at weekends, on holidays, and during Holy Week and the Feria. The EA bus costs €6. (sources 1, 2)

Quick Compatibility Check

Two checks before you buy:

1Your phone supports eSIM

Apple iPhone: iPhone XS, XR and later, including SE (3rd gen). SE (2nd gen): Apple's pages disagree, so check for an EID. Most iPhones from China mainland don't support eSIM.
Samsung Galaxy: S20 series and newer, Z Fold and Z Flip models, and some A models depending on region. Google Pixel: Pixel 4 and newer, and some Pixel 3 and 3a models.
Any phone: if Settings shows an “EID” (iPhone: General > About; Pixel: About phone > SIM status), your phone supports eSIM.

2Your phone is unlocked

iPhone, 10 seconds: Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock should say “No SIM restrictions”. A locked iPhone stops at “eSIM Not Supported”.
Android: Samsung shows it under Connections > More connection settings. Pixel or another phone from a carrier: check with your carrier.
